Charoite Egg (with stand)

Charoite is a complex mineral of very rare occurrence. Heat, pressure, and infusion of unique chemicals into a rock is responsible for the transformations into new minerals such as Charoite. The colors in each piece of Charoite range from bright lavender, violet, and lilac to dark purple, with white, gray, and black veining. It forms a swirling pattern of interlocking crystals that often demonstrate chatoyancy. It is found only in the Murinskii Massif, about 70 miles from the Chara River in SW Yakutia, Russia. The name Charoite is created from the Russian word “chary,” which means charms or magic, due to its beautiful visual effect when polished.
