The name Jade is shared by two distinctly different minerals: Nephrite, a calcium magnesium silicate and Jadeite, a sodium aluminum silicate. These are metamorphic minerals with vibrant green colors caused by the presence of chromium. Jade has been utilized by man since the beginning of civilization in Asia, Central and South America. Metaphysically, It is believed that Jade strengthens the body during life, and protects one after death.
